Car camping
I’m not getting any younger and I know there is still so much to see and do so I’ve created a mini home-away-from-home in my car to take quick little weekend trips away.
Family commitments mean I can’t venture too far away so a quick getaway is generally all I can manage. This means I don’t need supplies to last me for weeks so I pack tight and take only what’s necessary for a night or two away.
As a detailed-obsessed designer, I’ve made it as lovely as I can so that I can really enjoy my time away. I’ve curated things from home together with new purchases that bring me real joy – linen bedsheets, a fluffy towel and sample-sized toiletries, a coordinated set of enamelware and cutlery, a comfy chair and practical storage solutions – I love nothing more than searching for the next thing that will make the experience even better.
It is now possibly verging on an obsession for me but being surrounded by my favourite things honestly brings me so much happiness, a single night away feels like such a treat.
My family think I’m nuts – admittedly it’s not that comfortable during the night and I'm not sure I could do it days on end – but the thrill of doing something out of the ordinary and the chance to meet new people, see more of our lovely country and just enjoy some peace and quiet more than makes up for any sleep lost and I always come back feeling happy that I’d made the effort.
I've used my Product Page template to create my Car Camping checklist where I’ve put together images of things I’m working towards acquiring.
When working on any project – for work or at home – I always find it useful to put together a curation of product imagery for things I’m considering. Straight away I’ll know if something is going to work or not which saves a lot of wasted time and money buying the wrong things.
You can purchase this Google Docs template for yourself, or watch the tutorial on how to use it here.
